Just a moment

I was standing to the side with Gabe and Oliver, out of the way of the other customers. There was a rush-hour crowd at Walmart (oh, the horror!), and Chad and Colin were standing in line with our pumpkins. My shoulders hurt, the kids were hyper and whining, and I was wondering if this Halloween excursion had been a good idea.

As I glanced over at Chad and Colin in line, this thought popped into my head - "What would 16 year old Katie have thought of this little scene?"

And I looked down at my other two boys, and I teared up, because if I could have taken a video of this moment and sent it back to Katie in 1997, telling her that this would be her future, she would cherish every moment of that footage. I know exactly what she would think!

"My life is going to be exactly what I want it to be! Truly a dream come true! "

"(And Chad is still HOT!)"

If I sent a scene from my life now back to be at 15 I would have said, "Are you insane?" Well... kind of... I always wanted to adopt and I always wondered "When I am 30, I hope I have a family, kids, and an awesome husband!" But I never planned on this ;)!

That is a very sweet post! But honestly, you are allowed to feel bad about hating rush hour wal-mart traffic... it can be brutal.

PS You really should have picked up a pumpkin in the mountains. #1 They are cheaper (like mine was .50each and the big ones as Nesters were 2.50) #2 They are a lot better to carve with the smooth outside.

We were definitely planning on getting our pumpkins in the mountains - we did the last two years. But then it was POURING the only times we could have, which doesn't make it very fun to stand around picking out pumpkins :o( so we didn't.

I do that a lot...only instead of 16, I think about myself at more like 26 and all the things I wanted so badly for so many years.

Just yesterday I was thinking about how great the kids have been lately and how fun it is to see Rae learning and developing so much and it hit me that I have a FOUR year old! Crazy.

"I don't know if you know or not, but I'm kind of a big deal around here" - great line...Yeah, life is funny. With how many paths our lives could have taken, we really have been extremely blessed - espeically with those rascally boys.

When I was a senior, I was voted Most Likely to Have 8 Kids. I'm not quite there, but I think I would have been pretty happy my senior year if I was given a glimpse into my life now.
Anyway, enough of the sentimental crap... lets get to the real question that needs to be asked: What kind of nut job takes a picture in Walmart!? C'mon Chad, back me up here! What was really going through your mind when you looked through the manic rush of people and saw your wife whipping her camera out? The look on your face says it all. lol

Levi- LOL. Really actually laughing out loud.

You are right. Even when I was taking the picture I knew I was a nut job, and the cashiers were definitely looking at me like I was a nut job. I could tell I was making them very uncomfortable, especially since of course I had to take four or five pictures to get the right one!

No one bats an eye when we take a picture in the Wal Marts out here. We're usually using camera phones to catch the girls being extra cute, though, so maybe that's it.m

Or east coast people are different than west Texans

Or James just doesn't notice the strange looks.
