Keepin' It Real Wednesday

I get really dry skin in the winter when it is cold and we are running the heater all day. Last week was especially bad, and I was slathering my Dove lotion on every day to try and alleviate the flaky skin on my legs. I was about to do a post asking for lotion recommendations, because this stuff just wasn't working! My legs were unbearably itchy, and every time I showered, I could just feel the lotion washing right off.

I won't be needing those recommendations.

I finally read the lotion bottle a little more closely...........

...and realized that I had been rubbing body wash into my dry skin for the past week.

Itchy legs? Yep, that'll do it.

HA! HA! I love it! I do stuff like this all the time.

If it's really bad I'd put something thick & clear like Aquafor or Lanolin (yes, the stuff you use when breast feeding).

It took that long? Well, I guess they make them sort of "lotion-ie" these days! Hahaha! Great post! Made me laugh!

Wow, just wow. And as I was mocking you in my head I remembered that just last month I used Bath and Body works soap as lotion. I remember rubbing it on my arms and telling Roy "this is some weird lotion!" and he said "uh, that looks like soap". But at least I figured it out after once use ;)

I think we need more sleep.

I can totally see myself doing that. I was avoiding doing everything I needed to the other day and read up on some of your favorite posts. Such perspective! You make me really think and laugh at the same time. I look forward to your posts! Hope you don't mind me lurking...

hahahahaha, ok, THAT is really good. i do have a really great lotion called "renew." it's from melaleuca. i worked for them in college and got hooked. it's like a drink of water for your skin and doesn't leave a greasy feeling behind. just moisturizes. sooooo wonderful. bad news is that you have to have an account with them to order the products at a somewhat decent price. my mother in law has an account, so i order through her, but after sean graduates i'm going to spoil myself with my very own account:-)

Jes - Do not apologize for lurking. Katie is the queen of lurkers. I can't tell you how many times I have walked into the computer room and found her reading some random blog. She knows so many people through blogs but have no clue who they are outside of that. I don't even know where to begin with the mistaking soap for lotion snaffu - Can you imagine walking around with body wash on you all day??? I still can't believe you did that for 3 days straight...too funny. I can't talk too much - I am the guy who threw away his boarding pass 20 minutes before a flight only to retrieve it 5 min later from the trash can at the airport... I mistook it for a Chilis receipt...

Wait, I have a question....did you buy this at the store to use as lotion or was it just under your bathroom sink and you grabbed it?

Jes,

Thanks! Your comment really made my day. And Chad is right...I am a total lurker.

Ashley,

I bought it a long time ago to use in the shower at the gym (it is a little mini bottle). One day I looked at it and thought, "This isn't body wash! It's lotion. I meant to buy body wash!" so I had it stuck in my head that it was lotion. Yeah, that makes me even more of an airhead.

I don't know if you ever heard my story of TOTAL mix-up. One time I packed Ryan's lunch with a tupperware full of what I thought was vanilla pudding only to realize I couldn't find the leftover butter from a previous meal. Yeah, I had put the leftover soften sticks of butter in a tupperware... and Ryan eats ANYTHING that I pack him - blind faith in mom you know.
