Was a Teacher Workday.
Carina came with so I could drop her at the library (because she is my daughter and focuses better there). Buuuuut, she forgot her computer (again, my daughter), so instead she walked around CVS for 45 minutes. Oliver dropped her off at the library later on his way to the gym. She remembered her computer this time, but forgot her school folder with all her work. Bad day for Biscuit.
I walked through the woods during her horseback lesson. I prayed for a bit and then Marco Polo'ed my sisters. I've been losing focus during prayers a lot lately (probably doesn't help that I stopped taking my Adderall on a regular basis because it heightens my anxiety), so I should probably start writing them down again.
Elysée made homemade pizza dough, watched Modern Family, practiced piano, did homework, took Basil for a walk, did all the dishes while I was gone (because I mentioned that Chad wasn't feeling well), and made rice for our tacos. Pretty impressive when it's written out like that!
Simone cleaned her room, watched some Disney show I'd never heard of, and did laundry. I heard her talking to her friend on a call downstairs and then she asked Carina to include her friend Zoe in our family prayer because Zoe's grandpa died. Sweet girl.
Gabe took Amtrak home from a 24 hour visit with Isla. He seemed really tired. Chad talked to him about applying for a job with Matt Cox's company.
I spent too long on family history. I know, I know... it's a good thing to do, right? And I've been volunteering by linking sources to people I'm not even related to. But I need more balance. I have been a lot better about not doomscrolling the whole entire internet because I had Chad block it on my phone. So, there's that.
Chad and I went to a Hyundai dealership after dinner to test drive a Santa Fe. I knew that it was going to have very little leg space and a tiny trunk, but I tried to stay open-minded. And I knew the whole experience was going to take longer than it should. But I was still surprised at how much waiting around we had to do for a ten-minute test drive of a car we (I) were (was) only moderately interested in. And it was as abysmally tight in the back as I knew it would be. I don't get it, guys - why have a car that big if you can't use it to haul a bunch of people on a long trip? I'm just a mini-van mom for life. The salesman found out we have all teens and young adult children and said that's when people usually make the switch to these kinds of beefy for-show-only small SUV monstrosities (my description, not his). But why? Are my adult-sized children now mature enough that they shouldn't be allowed to bring more than the clothes on their backs and also be expected to chop their legs off to fit comfortably? Sorry for loving my kids more than that!
It was nice to spend time with Chad though, and to give my irritable soul something fresh to be irritated about instead of the normal at-home-with-five-teenagers irritations. Win!
Also, Carina found these at CVS today. I have to admire how Shaq will shill for anything.
