When Oliver gets around his cousin Callie, he can't take his eyes off her golden curls, and he certainly can't keep his hands off them either!

Poor Callie! She never swatted his hands away, even when she got sick of it. She just looked sideways uncomfortably and shifted away. She was very tolerant of the very persistent baby.

What kind of girl buys herself flowers?

I went to the Farmer's Market for the first time today, where I saw a bouquet so beautiful and fresh that I had to take it home with me. It was a Katie bouquet if there ever was one.

Sabina discovered the Farmer's Market a couple of weeks and knew that I would go crazy for the colorful blooms. She wanted to send Chad there before me so that he could gift some beautiful flowers upon me, but that didn't happen.....so I just bought them for myself. Can you blame me? Look at them (and look at my cheesy grin! They made me really happy!)! This picture doesn't even do it justice.

People of Charlotte, if you are ever in need of fresh flowers, please skip over those limp pickings at the front of Walmart and head to the Farmer's Market. Cost of this bouquet? $8!

Guess what starts again this Thursday?

Colin and I were walking in the parking lot at Target, and he stepped on my flip-flop on purpose. I TOLD him not to do it again,

And guess what he does?!

He steps on in again , and the strap TOTALLY breaks.

I had to walk through the Target, with one flip-flop off, looking like a total STOOGE.

A Mother's Day request

This is my beautiful cousin Julia. She has been waiting to be a mom for a long time. I remember very clearly at a family reunion just a few months after she got married, she would steal my little baby Colin and take him over to her family to coo at him for awhile. Everyone would tease her husband Brett about how soon she was going to want one of her own. I can tell you, Brett didn't seem to mind that one bit!

The blessing of a baby hasn't happened yet for these two. They have been married for six years now. For 5 1/2 of those years, they have been trying to start a family. They are now waiting to adopt a baby. When the the time comes, you can be sure the baby will be loved beyond measure.

Happy Mother's Day to Me

We always start celebrating Mother's Day and Father's Day on the Saturday before, so that we can do a few activities that we don't do on Sundays. Today was the Day of Katie, which entailed.....

A trip to the garden with all my favorite boys...

..followed by a take-out lunch with my favorite food - masaman curry and pad thai. By the way, curry on a warm and muggy day really feels wrong. Today's weather called for cold watermelon and barbeque. It was still tasty though, and if I don't demand it for Mother's Day I rarely get it.

KFC no longer honoring coupons.

In case you haven't seen a Twilight post lately ;o)

I have this theory about Twlight. I think that each woman's view on Jacob and Edward is reflective on her own love life.

We all know some people who are firmly on Team Jacob.

My theory is that Team Jacob people are those who did not marry their first love. They youthfully loved someone who they thought they were going to end up with, and then that person ended up not working out for one reason or another. They thought they could never care for another person in that way again, but ended up finding a second love who was even better for them than the first.

Team Edward generally had a few crushes here and there before finding their love, but NO ONE came close to the one they ended up with. They almost always ended up with their first love. They cannot imagine being with anyone else.

So tell me, does the theory hold true for you?

Dear Luke,

When you traded us our Quest for your BMW for the weekend, you didn't realize that Chad was going to wear the sunglasses that you left in your car, did you? He said that they came with the car, but I think he just wanted the full experience of not being a total cheapo for a few days. Thank you for his little weekend getaway. It was fun to take it on our anniversary date. Chad is now back to driving the Windstar to and from the bus, but has dropped a few hints here and there about getting a new car. Poor man. It's okay - it keeps him humble. Kind of.

PS. Please make Chad pay for his own lunch sometimes (and yours every once in awhile!). I keep telling him that he needs to keep offering, no matter how many times you treat, but I'm not sure if he is. You pay for his lunch a few times and next thing you know, he is wearing your sunglasses.
