Cereal, Cereal, Everywhere

The 100th day of school is coming up, so Colin was assigned to present a project to his class featuring a collection of one hundred items.

Here is what we finished last night:

10 bowls with 10 pieces of cereal in each one. I made straps on the back so that Colin can wear it while he shows it to his class.

And just for fun, this is what I let them have for dinner last night:

An all-you-can-eat-cereal buffet. All three boys were pretty excited - I haven't seen them eat dinner so well in a long time. They had already been sneaking into it all day - I can't walk anywhere without hearing crunching noises.

We got a lot of kinds that we normally don't, just because I wanted cereal that had bigger pieces so they would be easier to glue down. The life cereal was the household favorite (already gone).

What are some of your cereal favorites?

I've tried to stop buying cereal, because I always end it late at night when I really shouldn't be eating. Now I just let the kids each pick one kind and we really don't have room for more than that in our one measly cupboard. My favorites are Life, Honey Bunches of Oats, Honey Graham Oh's and one that I can't remember the name of and it is driving me crazy!

Awesome project!

I think it is awesome that you actually went for 10 different cereals. You must be an overachiever.

I Love LIFE and Special K with Strarberries - I also really like Cocoa Krispies, by my mom doesn't let me get that one because it has too much sugar - I'm so out of here when I turn 18.

Cracklin' Oat Bran! That's what it was! I LOVE it! So expensive though!

Brilliant! Love it!

I like Honey Bunches of Oats too. But I've been trying to eat more fiber cereal and so I tried Fiber One with Honey Clusters and it was SO GOOD!

cute idea---do you think this had anything to do with your stuffed nose being a blessing?

Merf - if you are referring to Gabe's issues this morning, yes. Ugh.

I love any healthy cereal... I love the sweet stuff too... but in my old age I try to be good. I did buy a 3 cereal thing from Sam's Club the other day with Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks, and Lucky Charms... the kids LOVED IT!

The project looks awesome! I was a bad mom... on the 100th day my kids basically had just 1 kind of cereal glued to a piece of paper.

I have a really bad sweet tooth, my favorite cereals are: Cinnamon Life, Peanut Butter Capn' Cruch, Cocoa Pebbles, Waffle Crisp, all that good stuff. I never really grew out of my childhood favs, except for Cookie Crisp, I don't know why I used to like that, bleh. I have to be careful, luckily though we don't really by cereal that much because Aaron and I are both in such a hurry to get to work and school in the morning, it's usually bagels, some type of fruit or protein shakes.

Definitely love Life. Also granola cereals. The girls are on a huge Honey Nut Cheerios binge right now and I'm so happy I got a ton of it at CVS recently.
Kashi GoLean Crunch is a new "healthy" favorite.
Usually not a cereal person, but sometimes it hits the spot.

Ashley - I am like you, so lately the only cereal we have in the house has been frosted shredded wheat. Plus I have been trying to let the kids eat less of it because...well, they like it too much.

Lindsey - I love love love Raisin Bran Crunch, but it has like 26 grams of sugar per serving, or something like that (or was that regular Raisin Bran?) so now I won't let myself get it. Very sad.

I love Cracklin' Oat Bran too!

I was on a Kashi GoLean kick for awhile last year.

I am basically all about the All Bran these days, because I am my mother's daughter.

Katie - I think Fiber One is way better than All Bran

Does Fiber One have as much fiber? 10 grams per serving?

I think it has more!
