Winter Wonderland

Colin braved the record-breaking cold yesterday to go outside to play with his friend, and soon came to the front door yelling, "Mom! Come outside RIGHT NOW!"

This is what he had discovered!

Our hose was turned on because we have a timer set up (set to never go off right now), and the connection between the timer and the hose was leaking and spraying a thin stream of water out. It was enough to create some Chihuly-ish ice sculptures for the boys to crunch over and a neat story to tell Dad when he called.

We got some of those a while back and the kids loved to find ones with grass growing in them.

That is really cool..All I got from Colin was "The front yard was full of water - the hose broke.." - That was great to hear.

part of me thinks this is really cool. the other part of me that has a hard time with anything in clusters is really grossed out. i know, sounds funny, but i literally can't stand the inside of bell peppers for the same reason. still cool;-)

(being the plant nerd that he is) Seth's first reaction was to be careful-that can ruin your yard ;)
